We’re Wendi and Ryan Johnson—Hastings locals, small business owners, Hastings High School grads, and proud parents to our son, Ryley.
Together, we wear a lot of hats, but the most meaningful one is this: we’re a family that believes in community, creativity, and making space for people to connect.
The Studio Downtown is an extension of who we are—rooted in our love for Hastings, inspired by our entrepreneurial spirit, and built to help you celebrate life’s most memorable moments.
Our Story
The idea for The Studio Downtown came after we purchased and began renovating a historic building in the heart of downtown Hastings. We saw more than just exposed brick and high ceilings—we saw potential. A place where stories could unfold, laughter could echo, and milestones could be celebrated.

With Wendi’s background in business and finance, Ryan’s hands-on creativity, and a shared passion for building something lasting, we transformed the space into a modern, flexible venue that still honors its historic charm. We’ve hosted everything from micro weddings and showers to birthdays, pop-up markets, and photo shoots.
