Skip the stress (and the weather watching) and actually enjoy the celebration.

It’s hard to believe, but we are already looking ahead to graduation season!
If you have a senior in the Class of 2026, you are probably starting to feel that mix of pride and panic. There is so much to do before they toss that cap in the air.
As a venue owner, I see a lot of families debate between hosting a backyard open house vs. booking a venue like The Studio Downtown. Both can be wonderful, but before you commit to hosting at home, here are a few things to consider that might save your sanity this spring.

1️⃣ The "Minnesota Weather" Factor ⛈️
We all love Minnesota summers, but June & July can be unpredictable. It might be a perfect 75° day, or it might be humid, rainy, or surprisingly chilly.
When you host at home, you often spend the week leading up to the party glued to the weather app, wondering if you need to rent a tent last minute.
The Venue Benefit: Peace of mind.
The Reality: At The Studio, the climate is always controlled. You don't have to worry about wind, rain, or heat. You just show up and celebrate.

2️⃣ The "Hidden Costs" of Home Hosting 🧮
My bookkeeper brain loves to look at the real numbers. It often feels "free" to host at home, but the rental costs add up faster than you’d think.
The Backyard Checklist:
Tent Rental (essential for shade/rain)
Table & Chair Rentals (plus delivery fees)
Extra Linens
Bathroom supplies (and the foot traffic through your home)
The Venue Value: At a venue, you pay one flat fee. The tables, chairs, bathrooms, and beautiful lighting are already there. By the time you add up all the rentals for a home party, you often spend just as much (if not more) than simply booking the space.

3️⃣ Skip the Pre-Party Panic 🧹
Hosting at home means cleaning your house twice: once before the guests arrive (scrubbing baseboards, landscaping the yard), and once after they leave.
At The Studio Downtown:
You walk in: The space is ready.
You party: You get to actually talk to your guests instead of refilling ice or managing trash.
You leave: We handle the heavy lifting. You go home with leftovers and memories, not a mess to clean up.

4️⃣ A Space That Feels Special ✨
Graduation is a huge milestone! It deserves a celebration that feels distinct from a standard family BBQ.
Our downtown Hastings location offers that perfect "Open House" flow. It’s central, easy for guests to find, and has a warm, industrial charm that looks great in photos (without you needing to buy a ton of decorations).
📅 The Calendar is Moving Fast
We are already chatting with parents about May and June 2026 dates. If you have a specific weekend in mind—especially those prime weekends right after commencement—we’d love to help you lock it in now.
P.S. Moms of Juniors (Class of 2027):
If you are reading this and thinking, "I want to be ahead of the game," you are my kind of planner! We are already opening our calendar for 2027. If you want the exact date and time for next year, book it now and relax for the next 12 months.
Give your graduate the celebration they deserve (and give yourself the gift of enjoying it!).
